Since 2021, Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie has made its mark on the European jazz scene through extensive touring and two album releases: “Dafnie” (Sonic Transmissions Records, 2022) and “Står opp med solen” (STR & Aguirre, 2024). Both albums have received glowing reviews nationally and internationally, in publications such as The Wire, We Jazz, The Quietus, Klassekampen, and Jazznytt. In 2024 they were award a Danish Music Awards Jazz.
Rooted in the jazz community of Trondheim, the quintet shapes and enriches Amalie Dahl’s compositions with great conviction. These compositions are built from through-composed cells and melodies, as well as structures and atmospheres, which the attentive and interactive ensemble uses as a foundation for improvisation.
In 2025, Amalie Dahl is thrilled to present Dafnie EXTENDED. With this expanded version of the already dynamic Dafnie, everything will be amplified! Energy, frequencies, wildness, and emotions will be pushed to their limits. Dahl has chosen to extend the lineup with musicians who enhance the core elements of Dafnie, bringing an even richer sonic palette to the band. Together, they will delve further into energies, emotions, textures, and states, creating an amplified and even more powerful version of Dafnie.
After a highly acclaimed debut concert at Molde Jazz in July, the band is also to hear in other European jazzfestivals this fall (check the list below).
